Rocketship Education is a unique and powerful force in the vast educational field in America. It is a non-profit charter public school network that specializes in elementary education. Rocketship concentrates its efforts in economically deprived areas where there has been a loss of the tax base, and thus there is a shortage of funds to build and grow quality educational facilities.
When this occurs, there is a dearth of educational opportunity for children and a gap is created in educational abilities and skills that are never recovered. The mission of Rocketship Education is to eliminate that gap in our lifetime.
Rocketship Education has been a breath of fresh air to communities, parents, and students because it gives children a second chance. By utilizing the core emphasis upon partnerships of parents, excellent educators, and children, success has been forthcoming regularly with this system.
Rocketship Education believes very strongly that each student has unlimited potential, only most of them have not had the opportunity to unlock that potential. By creating an atmosphere where parents, students, and instructors come together with the same objectives in mind, the potential of each student is released and it is measured in the positive results.
Each year, teachers are required to make a home visit to each student’s family in order to listen to parents and to keep them up-to-date regarding what is current at Rocketship. This annual visit does wonders in helping parents fully understand and participate in their child’s education. Parents are a driving force in their children’s outlook and the more they become involved, the better the student does in his educational activities.
The core of Rocketship Education is the emphasis on values such as responsibility, emphasis, respect, and persistence. These are the primary traits that students learn to live with and to become successful citizens as well as good students. The curriculum at Rocketship evolves around the STEM system, which is science, technology, engineering, and math. Other areas include art, music, cooking, and gardening, which helps to make a more well-rounded individual.
